I grew up as a dancer although the overly-critical dance world made me seek out alternatives. I took my first yoga class at a local gym and instantly felt connected. I realized Yoga was about how you feel and not how you look. While living in Los Angeles in 2007 I went through a 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training and studied with various yoga teachers. I loved the practice of yoga and felt the presence of God many times. God was doing a major work in me that year as I was in my first year of sobriety. I was either at a yoga studio, church or AA.
In May of 2017 I completed my 200hr certification with Yoga Faith and am excited to be shining the light of Christ through Yoga Faith Ambassadorship. Yoga Faith is a gift and a way of God pulling all of my life’s experiences together walking out the good works he has placed before me. I had finally found my tribe! I will never despise my small beginnings of teaching donation based classes with little to no students to now owning my own yoga studio in Plainwell, MI.
My passion is people finding freedom in Christ to break chains of addiction, identify and move though anything that is preventing purpose and promise.
I am also a single mama raising a little warrior princess. Other joys include Acro yoga & kids yoga! [/su_spoiler]
[su_spoiler title=”Tazdeen Rashid” style=”fancy” icon=”caret-square”]
Tazdeen, also known as Dj Taz, is going to help us take our worship to a whole other level! He and Michelle have a few sessions together on the 22nd that will bring you joy, deeper worship as you flow in God’s grace and strength!
Taz has found a way to help awaken us internally to have a more expansive external life.
He has been producing and part of creating mindful events globally for several years. As a musician, he plays guitar, keyboard, Native American Flute, didgeridoo and hand percussion. Taz and Michelle will also be having a “Soundoff” session, where we drown out every distraction and have a YogaFaith Class along with a Guided Meditation and Nidra with the noise cancelling headphones. Nidra is used with complex trauma which you will also explore during training. These sessions are creative, fun, deep in spirit and connection with God. They are so special that we are opening up these 4 hours to others to come receive continued education or simply come experience.
With his expertise in producing and playing music for yoga and meditation. Taz’s mission is to help others to create inspiring music playlists in their classes through breath beat sequencing and other novel techniques that foster a sound healing classroom experience. Taz will be teaching you a yoga music workshop as well. How to do a playlist? This is one of our most popular questions. We brought in an expert just for you! He will assist YogaFaith Trainers how to create the soundscape for their classes which enriches the yoga practice and also supports the instructor to develop their own unique sound. His workshops are designed to empower the participants to cultivate the yoga dj extraordinaire within themselves and makes one of the most intimating aspects of creating a yoga class-the music- into a simple enjoyment. You will learn how to create a worshipful experience for any style of class you teach.
We can’t wait for you to be richly blessed by Taz as he shares his gifts and talents with you!
[su_spoiler title=”Katie Henly, RYT R-YFT 200″ style=”fancy” icon=”caret-square”]
In the spring of 2017, Katie and her husband’s life became affected by unexpected circumstances and trials. Katie dealt with life being turned upside down in the best way she could think- by getting upside down herself. She felt fighting to find balance and strength in handstands to be therapeutic for the balance and strength she was fighting for in her spiritual and daily life. As Katie continued to find love of arm balances, she ventured into the other asana families and began to see the need to cry out to Christ with her entire being.
As Katie continued in her yoga practice and sharing about her yoga journey and her spiritual journey online, she began to receive messages about yoga and about others walking through similar circumstances. Through talking with others, Katie felt that yoga could be a unique space where Christ, healing and community could come together. In her search for a faith-based teacher training, Katie came across Yoga Faith and completed her 200-hour certification in May of 2018. Katie is also registered to complete her Adaptive Yoga Faith training in April of 2019.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Maria O’brien, R-YFMT, RYT 500″ style=”fancy” icon=”caret-square”]
I was born and raised in Gran Canaria, an island located to the west of Africa. Gran Canaria is part of the Canary Islands, an archipelago that is part of Spain. To me, experiencing yoga in its fullness is very similar to contemplating the movements of the waves on the seashore. Every flow is different, unique, full of possibilities conveying different moments for full expression and growth. Spiritually, yoga provides me with a personal, very intimate, and unique opportunity to praise God, to adore Jesus, and to offer Him all that I have. Off the mat, I work as a special education support staff for early childhood and kindergarten. I received my 300 hour teacher certification through YogaFaith in July of 2018. YogaFaith took me by my hand and showed me what honoring and adoring Jesus through the lenses of yoga was all about. Words cannot convey the magnitude of my experience, but one thing I know for sure and it is that I have all eternity to be grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in Jesus with the warm and kind guidance of YogaFaith.
YogaFaith is humbled and honored to have the best of the best show you how to worship the Lord wholly!
