Valerie Dunn McBee

[email protected]

Val has wanted to help people her whole life. In fact, in second grade she boldly proclaimed to her mother that she was going to be a psychiatrist/psychologist/counselor when she grew up. (She didn’t know the difference at the time!) She never really wavered from this vision and eventually studied social work at Bethel University in St Paul, MN. She worked with teens and young adults in various ministry and therapeutic settings for a decade before heading south.

Landing in Athens, GA, she went back and got her masters in social work at the University of Georgia. After several years working in public mental health and then taking a few years to raise kiddos, she is now part of the therapy team at the Athens DBT Center.

Over the last couple of years, her path has unexpectedly turned toward trauma work, which she never thought she’d “be able to handle”—but GOD knew otherwise.

Val is trained in the DBT-Prolonged Exposure Protocol, as well as a Certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Trainer and a 200 hour Registered YogaFaith Trainer, R-YFT. She is seeing paths converge, as her multiple passions for Jesus, contemplative practices, confronting spiritual abuse, therapy, trauma work, and the mind-body connection come together to help people reconnect and heal from trauma and a lifetime of emotional upheaval.

When she’s not working, she’s reading clinical books or mysteries (balance, people!), doing yoga, playing her cello, or spending time with her ruggedly handsome husband and adorable children at their always-in-process-of-being-renovated house in the country outside Athens, GA.

We are honored and humbled to have such a precious soul pour into you in Atlanta’s Trauma Sensitive and Nidra training.

Michelle is has been registered with the American Council of Exercise since 2009, is an E-RYT 200, Registered Yoga Trainer with Yoga Alliance at the 500 level, an international speaker and author of the widely popular Christian Yoga book, Stretching Your Faith. She has taken hundreds of students into highly skilled yoga trainers and confident leaders with over 20 Teacher Trainings through her two accredited schools. Michelle is a Manduka Brand Ambassador, a provider of continued education credits and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

She began studying and practicing yoga in the late 80’s while professionally dancing in Portland, Oregon where she was born and raised. Eventually the love of yoga and it’s numerous benefits led her into instructing and sharing the wonderful gift of yoga with others, but it was her passion for Christ that led her to YogaFaith.

She has been instrumental in helping others heal through yoga and faith, but it is God the Almighty that is glorified in the true transformation of people. There have been hundreds of miracle healings and testimonies of surrender and restoration through YogaFaith classes.

I am in awe of what the Lord continues to do through our Trauma Sensitive Program! Nidra has played a vital role in the healing of complex trauma. 2019 YogaFaith introduced Soza and Somatic, coupling Sozo Ministry with Peter Levine’s Somatic Experience. You will be transformed and you will show others how to be set free from the chains that bind!

Lindsay has always enjoyed an active lifestyle. She grew up riding horses and always enjoyed going to the gym. After graduate school, she began working in the emergency department as a nurse practitioner. The crazier the situation, the more she felt she thrived. Over the past few years, major changes led her to reevaluate her life and faith. She found yoga while she was in a dark place emotionally and spiritually. She cried out to God on her yoga mat, hurt and frustrated at how her story was turning out. He met her on the mat and her life has never been the same. She pursued training through YogaFaith so she could share that same healing opportunity with others. She is a certified 200 hour teacher with YogaFaith as well as Trauma Sensitive YogaFaith Specialist. She loves using yoga to worship God and take time to listen and hear from Him.

Lindsay lives in Northern Kentucky with her fur babies, and she can’t wait to see where God leads her in this new chapter!

YogaFaith is so excited for you to learn from this incredible sister in Christ!
