Due to COVID 19, non contact hours are eligible as contact hours
YogaFaith Continued Education Credit Policy
What Is Continued Education?
Continued education is when an individual returns to informal or formal instruction to remain current in their career, develop advanced skills, train for a new job, earn a degree, certificate or develop a personal interest. There are various types of continued education. We hope this document serves as a guide in continued education as well as advancing your educational journey.
As with most educators, YogaFaith certifications expire every 2 years.
YogaFaith® (YF) requires a minimum of 2.0 CEC’s every two years in order to be current with safety standards and to enhance your knowledge in the process. A minimum of 10 hours (1 CEU) must be in person, the other 10 hours can be distant learning or non-contact hours. No more than 10 hours (1 CEU) can be non-contact. CEC’s may be obtained with any organization or approved educator. YogaFaith® requires a minimum of two (2) credit hours per calendar year to be issued by YogaFaith®, (4 hours in 2 years).
Read on for the importance of maintaining your certification(s) from the accreditor (school), and not a registry/directory.
The acronym “CEU” stands for Continuing Education Unit. It is often used interchangeably with CEC, also known as Continued Education Credit. Continuing education programs are intended to promote continued competence, development of knowledge and skills, and enhancement of professional skills and judgment beyond the levels required for entry-level practice or skillset. CEU’s are awarded based on the number of hours spent in a structured educational format. Different education courses provide various lengths of training. When one completes the training, various credits, or units, associated with the length of the course are then achieved. Schools and organizations do not necessarily follow the same formula for calculating a credit hour or unit.
One CEU equals ten contact hours of participation in organized continuing education classes and/or training conducted by a qualified instructor. A contact hour is equivalent to one 60-minute interaction between an instructor and the participant in person. The typical CEU represents contact hours of an experience in a structured continuing education experience (class, seminar, retreat, practicum, etc.) that is supervised in some way by a qualified continuing education provider.

It is essential to maintain credentials from the accrediting agency or school where you received your certification, such as YogaFaith. Your school is where you receive qualifications and credentials. No other membership based organization or alliance is a credentialing agency. As a current certification holder, you are placed on the YF Directory free of charge for visibility of prospective students, customers, employees and/or employers.YogaFaith® Certifications are valid for two (2) years. CECs should be accrued for the current certification cycle and cannot be applied to future cycles. Any CEC’s prior to becoming certified do not count as CEC’s, as ‘Continued Education’ is a new area of study. Renewals can be completed online or by mail. See more details in Recertification Policy and Procedures section below. Only trainers with current and valid YF Certificates will be listed on YF’s website.
Any hours spent in any YF Training can be submitted to any organization that accepts CEU/CEC’s. The same CEC’s are applicable for multiple certificates.
Continued Education Credits and hours are provided by: Workshops, Courses, Classes, or Self-Study programs with accredited courses in accepted subject areas: Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Nutrition, Kinesiology, and/or Physical Therapy, Yoga Techniques, Specialist Teacher Training, Yoga Philosophy or Teacher Ethics. The methods for learning are very diversified. Continued Education can also be obtained by training DVDs or taking a distance learning course. YF is the only accredited program where trainers can obtain CEC’s through Leadership and Faith-based conferences, trainings, or virtual book/bible studies that YogaFaith offers. Writing or developing curriculum or articles outside of YF will also achieve CEU’s, see details under Continued Education Courses below.
Professionals who hold more than one YF Certification can apply the same CEC’s to more than one certification for renewal, provided that the subject matter is appropriate for continuing education for all YF Certifications to which the CECs are applied. CPR/AED certificate must be current at the time of renewing any YF Certification.
As a health and fitness professional, you may be presented with a life-threatening event. YF requires its professionals to maintain a current adult CPR/AED certificate, which must include a live, in- person training and skill check.
A CEU cannot be granted for learning events that are less than one hour in length.
Any hours spent in any YF Training can be submitted to any organization that accepts CEU/CEC’s. The same CEC’s are applicable for multiple certificates.
Continuing Education Contact Hours are classroom hours in the physical presence of a qualified Continuing Education Provider, such as a YogaFaith Ambassador, Trainer, Group Fitness Trainer, Anatomy or other Physical / Fitness Expert. One (1) contact hour equals one hour of any of the following activities: Workshops (single session or ongoing series), Yoga Teacher Training, Courses, Discussion or study groups
Any hours spent in any YF Training can be submitted to any organization that accepts CEU/CEC’s. The same CEC’s are applicable for multiple certificates.

Distant Learning and Online Education are considered Non Contact Hours
Continuing education hours offered through an online method, or distant learning program, are considered non contact hours, anything not in-person is considered Distant Learning. Continuing Education Non-Contact Hours consist of learning outside of the classroom or without a qualified Continuing Education Provider present. A non-contact hour is earned by completing one hour of any of the following activities: Being a student participant in a webinar or taking an online or correspondence course, receiving remote mentoring, authoring content for public dissemination (e.g., in newsletters, magazines, newspapers, online, CDs, DVDs, etc.), or creating class materials.
YF Distance Learning Programs provide sound biblical doctrine, comprehensive distant continued education, as well as an additional certification(s).

Keep documentations such as Certificates of Completion or any receipts, in one place so it’s easily referred to. You may then simply submit these at the end of your two year period.
Any hours spent in any YF Training can be submitted to any organization that accepts CEU/CEC’s. The same CEC’s are applicable for multiple certificates.
Your YogaFaith® Certification demonstrates your commitment to excellence with an internationally accredited school. Your certification requires completion of the renewal process in order to maintain the credential. It is essential to maintain credentials from the accrediting agency or school where you received your certification, such as YogaFaith. A membership based alliance is not your credentialing agency. As a current certification holder, you are placed on the YF Directory free of charge for visibility of prospective students, customers, employees and/or employers.
Continuing Education activities are intended to promote the development of professional skills, knowledge and judgment. CEC’s are awarded based on the number of hours spent in a structured educational format.
YogaFaith® Certifications are valid for two (2) years. CEC’s should be accrued for the current certification cycle and cannot be applied to future cycles. Any CEC’s prior to becoming certified do not count as CEC. Renewals can be completed online or by mail.
Only new areas of studies are considered to be continued education. Renewals can be completed online or by mail. YF requires a minimum of 2.0 CEC’s every two years in order to be current with safety standards and to enhance your knowledge in the process. Recommended Programs Include: American Heart Association, American Red Cross and American Safety and Health Institute.
- Complete a minimum of 10 hours per year of approved CECs (1.0 CEC), a minimum of two (2) hours or two (.2 CEU) a year must be issued by YogaFaith®.

- Certification Renewal Application, include current name and address.
- Include a copy of the documents that validate your earned CEUs. Also include a copy of the front and back of your hands-on CPR/AED certificate.
- Pay appropriate renewal fee as listed on the application.
YogaFaith® Renewal Fee is $100 every two years (200/300/500 hour) and $50 for Specialty Certificates. If you have any questions about maintaining your YF Certification(s), please contact our Educational Services via phone at 253.299.4306, or via email at info@yogafaith.org. You may also pay by mail: YogaFaith®, Attention Certificate Renewal, PO BOX 7185 Bonney Lake, WA 98391, along with appropriate renewal fee and documents. We can only process applications with renewals fees that have been paid in full. Please allow 30 days for processing. We will attempt to contact you by email if your application is incomplete. If the application remains incomplete after 30 days, your application will be cancelled and any re-certification fees related to that application will be refunded.
YF extends a professional courtesy of an extension to individuals unable to submit renewal information by their expiration date. Upon written request, there is a 90 day grace period from the time of certificate expiration. During this grace period, the certification is technically expired and the individual is not a current Registered YogaFaith® or Yoga Trainer for the given certification, no longer holding credentials.
In these situations, there are penalty fees associated with processing the application.
- The standard renewal fee is $100 every two years to keep a certificate valid.
- Individuals submitting renewal applications up to three months past their expiration date, will be assessed a renewal fee of $125.00 per late certification
- Those submitting renewal information three to six months past their expiration date, will be assessed a $150.00 renewal fee per late certification
- Renewing a certificate that has expired beyond six months is considered a reinstatement.
- Renewals and reinstatement requires proof of 2.0 CECs, current CPR/AED certificates, recertification quiz, 30 minute minimum class demonstration video. Reinstatement is only offered one time per certification.
- Reinstating a certificate is $175
Prices quoted are USD. YF offers Canadian Residents a 30% discount on renewal pricing.
Late renewal periods will be activated based upon the original renewal cycle period and not rolled forward from that date renewed. For example, original renewal period is Oct. 15, 2016 – Oct. 15, 2018 and renewed in the grace period on January 1, 2019. The next proceeding renewal period would be Oct. 15, 2018 – Oct. 15, 2020. If certificate expires again after a reinstatement, one would have to redo the course or simply choose a program to gain a valid certification.
The purpose of holding a professional credential is to practice and demonstrate continued competency in a given field therefore it is YogaFaith’s policy not to grant retired, inactive, or emeritus status. If you have questions about renewing an expired certification, please contact our Educational Services via phone at 253.299.4306, or via email at info@yogafaith.org.
Expired Certificate holders will be removed from the YF Directory.
We strongly encourage you to maintain any of your certifications with the credentialing agency, such as YogaFaith, to maintain credibility and expertise in your field. These credentials are more important than any membership based alliance that does not issue accreditations.
